Reducing water losses is one of the biggest challenges facing basic sanitation companies in the country. A study carried out by the Trat Brazil Institute in partnership with the organization Water.org in the United States and prepared by GO Associados, entitled “Water losses 2020 (base year 2018) – challenges to water availability and the need to advance sanitation efficiency”, which gathers data from the National Sanitation Information System (SNIS), base year 2018, shows that the average loss of drinking water in the country was 38.45%, that is, for every 100 liters of water collected, treated and potable , 38 liters do not reach anyone officially, they get lost in leaks, thefts, fraud, water meter reading errors, among other problems.
